This policy explains how the Academy handles refunds and cancellations for course and exam purchases. It forms part of the Terms of Use.
1. What you are buying
Course and exam products are digital access products. A purchase grants access to a defined programme or assessment for a stated access period, delivered immediately or as soon as access is provisioned.
Course access and exam access are purchased separately. An exam purchase grants a defined number of attempts; an attempt is used when the exam is started.
2. Statutory withdrawal rights
Where consumer law gives you a right to withdraw from a distance purchase, that right applies and is not reduced by this policy.
Where the law allows that right to end once digital content has started to be supplied, it ends only if you gave express consent to immediate supply and acknowledged that you would lose the withdrawal right. That consent is requested at checkout, is recorded against your account with the policy version and timestamp, and is not bundled into general acceptance of the Terms.
If you did not give that consent, the withdrawal right continues for the statutory period.
3. Grounds on which a refund is granted
A refund is granted where any of the following applies:
1. A duplicate charge was taken for the same product.
2. A verified payment or billing error occurred.
3. The purchased product could not be accessed because of a platform fault and the fault was not resolved within a reasonable support period.
4. The product delivered materially differs from what was described at the point of purchase.
5. A refund is required by applicable law, including a valid statutory withdrawal.
4. Situations that are not refund grounds
Outside the grounds above and any mandatory legal right, a refund is not granted for:
failing an exam or not achieving an expected score;
not completing the course within the access period;
change of mind after content has been accessed, where the withdrawal right has ended;
disagreement with teaching style, difficulty level, or the depth of a topic;
lack of time to study;
an expired access period;
a violation of the Academic Integrity Policy that led to loss of access.
5. Exam attempts
An unused exam attempt purchased in error may be refunded under the grounds in section 3. An attempt that has been started is treated as supplied, except where a platform fault prevented a fair attempt, in which case the Academy restores the attempt rather than refunding it where the learner prefers that outcome.
6. How to request a refund
Email contact@sccp-academy.com from your account email with the product purchased, the order reference, the date of purchase, and a description of the issue.
The Academy acknowledges the request within 5 business days and gives a decision with reasons. If more information is needed, the Academy asks for it before deciding.
7. How refunds are paid
An approved refund is returned through the original payment method by the payment provider. The time to appear on a statement depends on the provider and the card issuer. Taxes collected at checkout are refunded in proportion to the refunded amount.
8. Effect of a refund on access
Access to the refunded product is withdrawn when the refund is approved. Any certificate issued in reliance on the refunded product may be revoked under the Certificate Policy.
Where a refund covers only part of a purchase, only the refunded part of the access is withdrawn.
9. Chargebacks
If you believe a charge is wrong, contact the Academy first; most cases are resolved faster directly.
A chargeback raised without contacting the Academy may result in suspension of the account and withdrawal of the related access while the dispute is investigated. The Academy responds to the payment provider with the purchase and access records. Where a chargeback is found to be improper, access is not restored and any related certificate may be revoked.
10. Escalation
If you disagree with a refund decision, reply to the decision email and ask for a review. A second reviewer who did not make the original decision reviews the case. Mandatory consumer-law rights and any statutory complaint route remain available regardless of the outcome.
11. Refund request window
The refund request window that applies in addition to statutory rights is stated at the point of purchase for each product and is confirmed in this policy before paid enrolment opens.
